Forrest A. Parker is Founding Partner,
President and Chief Executive Officer for Multi-Ethnic
Perspectives, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides
diversity training and multicultural education resulting
in positive community relations and leadership experiences.
The mission of Multi-Ethnic Perspectives, Inc. is to
create new capacities for leadership, learning, and
innovation through partnering and mentoring. Its vision
is to strengthen the future of individuals, organizations,
and communities.
Mr. Parker is Executive Director of the
Fredericksburg Regional Boys & Girls Club of Greater
Washington. He has also served as a consultant to the
Norfolk Youth Council since 1999; an organization chartered
by Norfolk City Council to provide policy direction
on issues concerning youth. He was co-instructor for
a graduate course titled "Leadership in Multicultural
Urban Environments" in the College of Business
and Public Administration at Old Dominion University.
An experienced keynote and motivational
speaker, facilitator, trainer, presenter, and consultant,
Mr. Parker has addressed, consulted, and motivated thousands
of youths, parents, and professionals. Mr. Parker's
expertise includes multicultural affairs, cultural diversity
in the workplace, Affirmative Action, race and human
relations, and team building. He has a Master of Arts
degree in counseling education from James Madison University
and a Bachelor of Science degree from Ferrum College.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Parker
was Vice President and Dean of Multicultural Affairs
at Mary Washington College, where he also served as
Director of the Multicultural Center, Director of the
pre-college Student Transition Program, and Director
of Project SOAR, a high school partnership program with
the Fairfax County Public School System. Mr. Parker
served as the first chairperson of the President's Council
on Community Values and Behavioral Expectations. Throughout
his twenty-year career in higher education, he has launched
multiple initiatives addressing the needs of underrepresented
student populations.
PROFESSIONAL AND SERVICE MEMBERSHIPS
Mr. Parker's membership in professional and service
organizations has included the College Board National
Advisory Council on College Entrance Services, the Board
of Directors for Project Discovery, the Virginia Advisory
Board to Better Information Workshops, the Board of
Directors for the American Heart Association for the
greater Fredericksburg area, president and Board of
Directors for the Fredericksburg Area Community Relations
Organization, a lifetime honorary membership in the
Potomac and Chesapeake Association of College Admissions
Counselors, an active membership in Omega Psi Phi Fraternity,
Inc., president and founder of the Virginia Admissions
Council on Black Concerns, Board of Directors for the
Fredericksburg Nursing Home Community Advisory Board,
the Steering Committee for the Fredericksburg Regional
Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington, volunteer
basketball coach for the Spotsylvania Department of
Parks and Recreation, founder and director of the annual
and national Multi-Ethnic Perspectives Conference, and
the Board of Directors for Employment Resources, Inc.
HONORS AND AWARDS
Mr. Parker has received several honors and awards for
his leadership and contributions to youth and human
rights. The Virginia/Washington D.C. Chapter of Omega
Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., named him Omega Man of the
Year in 1994. He was selected as Omega Man of the Year
in 1993 by the Fredericksburg chapter. Also in 1993,
former Governor L. Douglas Wilder and the Board of Directors
of Virginia Heroes, Inc. honored Mr. Parker as a Virginia
Hero. He received the Fitz Turner Award in 1992 for
outstanding leadership and contributions that have enhanced
respect for human and civil rights throughout the country.
He was Member of the Year for the Virginia Admissions
Council on Black Concerns, Inc. in 1996 and 1998.
