Address Black Success in Corporate America
The Executive Leadership Council (ELC),
the nations premier network of the most senior
African-American corporate executives in Fortune 500
companies, will present two days of African-American
professional development symposiums on July 9 and
10, 2003 at the headquarters of Sears, Roebuck, and
Co. in Hoffman Estates, IL. Issues such as African
Americans and the price of corporate success, the
art of acquiring and managing power at work, and maintaining
an appropriate work/ life balance will be addressed
at the July 9 workshop geared toward African-American
women in the corporate world. This session, African-American
Corporate Women and the Black Gender Gap,
will feature panelists Ertharin Cousin, Senior
Vice- President, Public Relations and Government Affairs
for Albertsons, Inc; Jerri DeVard, Senior
Vice- President, Brand Management and Marketing Communications
for Verizon; Paula Sneed, Group Vice- President,
E-Commerce and Marketing Services for Kraft Foods
and Pamela White, Vice- President, Investor
Relations for Sears, Roebuck, and Co. Alana Ward
Robinson, Senior Vice- President and Business
Process Redesign Leader for RR Donnelly & Sons
Company, and a national expert on information technology,
will be the speaker for the symposium luncheon.
The following day, black men will be
the focus as the Executive Leadership Council presents
African-American Corporate Men Creating a
New Vision of Leadership. Panelists and
ELC members Todd C. Brown, Executive Vice-
President and President of the E-Commerce Division
of Kraft Foods; Haven Cockerham, Senior Vice
President of Human Resources for RR Donnelly &
Sons Company; Joseph Mayfield, Vice- President,
Administrative Services for Time, Inc.; and Kevin
Price, Vice- President of Call Center Operations
and Sales for Sears, Roebuck, and Co. will discuss
the complexity of being a black man in corporate America.
James H. Lowry, Vice- President of the Boston
Consulting Group will deliver the keynote address.
Dr. Price Cobbs, renowned psychiatrist and
co-author of Black Rage and Cracking the
Corporate Code, will moderate both panel discussions.
The ELC partnered with corporate sponsor
Sears, Roebuck, and Co. to present a series of regional
symposiums that would educate and motivate executives
and mid- level managers to strengthen their leadership
skills and connection with professional networks of
other African-American executives and managers. Both
workshops will begin at 7:30 am and will run until
