“THREE MO’ TENORS”SINGING THEIR WAY INTO
HISTORY IN A CITY NEAR YOU!

Critically acclaimed show “THREE MO’ TENORS” announces the upcoming 2005-2006 season performance schedule and a renewed mission to celebrate and showcase versatility and talent of the African-American tenor voice.

(AANEWSWIRE)NEW YORK, New York: July 15, 2005 -- Willette Murphy Klausner, producer of THREE MO’ TENORS announces the launch of the 2005-2006 national tour and the New York engagement of the much acclaimed production of THREE MO’ TENORS. The new season will kick off on September 24th, 2005 in Orlando, Florida with a headline benefit performance for the National Urban League. The tour will culminate with a three-week engagement at the Fisher Theater in Detroit in March of 2006. And, in the spring of 2006 THREE MO’ TENORS will return to New York City with a special performance at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in March, and an off-Broadway theater run [TBA]. The finale for the 2005-2006 Season will be an engagement at the prestigious Edinburgh International Festival in Scotland in the summer of 2006.

THREE MO’ TENORS goes into the upcoming season on a winning streak. It has sold out at venues across the country and has been praised by critics for the amazing, complex vocal dexterity and range of the tenor performers. From classical Opera to the Blues, from Jazz to traditional Spirituals, from Gospel to Hip-Hop, the artists of THREE MO’ TENORS can do it all in their smooth, sophisticated signature style. Inspired by the unprecedented success of the original Three Tenors, Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras, THREE MO’ TENORS has captivated audiences since 2001 when PBS’ “Great Performances” televised it. As conceived, directed and choreographed by Marion J. Caffey, the show is a high-energy song and dance performance that has become synonymous with Broadway musical quality.

But THREE MO’ TENORS is more than just entertainment. While the original Three Tenors celebrated the celebrity power of famed European tenor voices, Klausner and Caffey’s THREE MO’ TENORS is distinguished for finding and cultivating undiscovered African-American tenors. As Klausner says, “It’s entertainment on a mission”. The mission is two-fold: to showcase and launch the careers of relatively unknown African-American tenors by exposing new audiences to their talent and versatility and in doing so, to broaden and diversify audience appreciation for classical music performance. The 2005-2006 season of THREE MO’ TENORS will renew this dual mission: to promote quality and culturally uplifting
entertainment in the African-American community while showcasing the power and vitality of the African-American tenor voice. Klausner will focus on cultivating and developing the African-American audience for classical music performance by targeting corporate businesses for sponsorships and by building strategic alliances with African-American cultural organizations.

The seasoned tenor voice is considered “the jewel in the crown” amongst classical music performance voices. The African-American tenor voice is uncommon in classical music performance and almost never featured in leading roles of productions mounted by major opera companies. Klausner and Caffey are determined to break what they call the “unspoken operatic color-line” by mounting a powerful cultural campaign with their talented ensemble team of all-star African-American tenors. To respond to the demand of eight performances per week and to accommodate the extraordinary vocal demands of THREE MO’ TENORS, there are now 2 talented casts featuring 6 of the most versatile and talented African- American tenors in the business.

The first important steps in fulfilling the Klausner/Caffey vision, and in preparation for the New York engagement of the show next spring, have already been realized. THREE MO’ TENORS is joining forces with The Dance Theatre of Harlem and The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce’s [GHCC] Harlem Week Festival. Special sneak-previews of the THREE MO’ TENORS’ signature performance will take place at the Harlem Week “Great Day in Harlem” celebration July 31st. They will perform as part of a star studded line-up ! of guest artists in a special memorial tribute concert in honor of the late, great R&B legend, Luther Vandross. The concert will take place at the Ulysses S. Grant National Memorial Park, W.122nd St. & Riverside Drive. The Harlem Week Festival reigns as one of the country’s biggest and most significant cultural celebrations. In addition they will perform at GHCC’s Harlem Week event, Joints are Jumpin’: Salute to Harlem's Entertainment Legacy, August 11 – NYC and the Dance Theatre of Harlem Annual Street Fair, August 13, NYC and the National Black Sports & Entertainment Hall of Fame Awards, August 30, NYC.

Klausner attributes the success of the show to its unique combination of popular appeal and cultural relevance. “It's an entertaining and uplifting show that appeals to the entire community. It’s one of those rare performances that can be enjoyed by the entire family across generations,” she says. Caffey also believes that it is important for the production to maintain a connection with its roots in the African-American community. He continues, “THREE MO’ TENORS builds a bridge between our past, present and future. The demand for the African-American tenor will grow as classical music appreciation broadens.” Klausner leans forward and proclaims, “Marion couldn’t have said it any better. It’s about supply and demand. The support and appreciation of the community will ignite change. As we have witnessed with sports such as tennis and golf, when Africa! n- Americans see our presence, their support, appreciation and practice will transform the landscape. It’s about creating a legacy. We’re singing our way into history and drafting our own blueprint for opportunity and success where none existed. That’s the real power of the THREE MO’ TENORS franchise!”
