Landmark Films and Industry Talents
Unite
at the 2007 Roxbury Film Festival

Boris Kodjoe
Boston, MA - ACT Roxbury and
The Color of Film Collaborative are pleased to announce
that over 50 films will be screened August 1-5 at
the 9th Annual Roxbury Film Festival (RFF). RFF, the
largest film festival in New England dedicated to
films that celebrate people of color, features a variety
of films, from features, documentaries, shorts and
youth-produced works.
"This year's festival is especially notable for
the caliber of films that we will be screening and
our exceptional filmmaking panels and workshops. We
are showing fewer films than we did last year, but
I think the films at the ninth RFF are particularly
impressive."
Lisa Simmons, president of The Color
of Film Collaborative adds, "With evolving media
technology and myriad distribution avenues, it is
now more important than ever to support independent
voices. Festivals like RFF are integral to the dissemination
of those unique voices and stories that are found
beyond the superficiality of Hollywood."
Actor Boris Kodjoe ("Madea's
Family Reunion", "Love & Basketball"
and "Soul Food: The Series") as well as
acting coach and Boston native Susan Batson
are among the special guests attending this year's
Festival. Batson has coached many of Hollywood's A-list
actors including; Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer
Connelly and Sean Combs. She will be leading an acting
workshop at the Festival. Boris Kodjoe will attend
the MFA screening of his film "All About Us"
a movie about two struggling Hollywood filmmakers
who decide to travel to Clarksdale, Mississippi, to
personally ask Morgan Freemen to star in their next
movie. Also appearing is Anthony Montgomery
star of RFF opening night film, "I'm Through
with White Girls," a romantic comedy directed
by Jennifer Sharp. Victoria Rowell will screen
her new short film, "The Mentor" and will
be signing copies of her book, The Women Who Raised
Me.
