Eugene Lumpkin, SF Republican Committee Woman Gail Nehir, Dr. Jynona Norwood, and political and religious leaders will hold a PRESS CONFERENCE to CELEBRATE THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE LONG AWAITED CHERISHING THE CHILDREN’S JONESTOWN MEMORIAL WALL honoring the memory of the 276 children and 40 infants who were murdered in Jonestown at the order of Jones.

Who:  This will be a CELEBRATION OF THE CHILDREN’S LIVES, where we will honor the 276 Children who perished in the jungles of Guyana with a special tribute by turning on 276 lights and reading their names aloud. In this special tribute we will honor those precious lives lost and what it means for our Children’s future today. Teenage Opera Singer, Renee Joi and the Children’s Choir will be performing at the Cherishing the Children Memorial Service, which will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery, 6450 Camden Avenue @ 11:00 AM, Oakland, California on Sunday, November 18, 2007. Refreshments will be served. Our guest speakers are: Dr. Norwood, who lost 27 family members including her beloved mother. Norwood was never a member of Jim Jones church. She eventually kidnapped/rescued her son and went into hiding to save his life. Rev. Eugene Lumpkin former Human Rights Commissioner, who was sent by former Mayor Frank Jordan as liaison to City Hall;  SF Republican Committee Woman, Gail Nehir; Rev. Rochelle Conner, Author of “Does God Really Care About Politics”, Treasurer, SF Republican Alliance since 2005, SF Republican Alliance since 2005 Member, Piedmont Area Republican Women Club since 2005; Buck Kamphausen, CEO of Evergreen Cemetery & Ron Haulman, where most of the children are buried; John Dennis Cortez, Amador Monument; and many others. The community, singers and guests will celebrate these innocent children and the long awaited construction of the Cherishing the Children Memorial Wall
