(AANEWSWIRE--May 19, 2008) Georgetown
University's School of Continuing Studies is offering
a Master's Degree in Professional Studies and Advanced
Professional Certificates with concentrations in International
Human Resources Management, Diversity Management and
Strategic Human Capital Management. The Diversity
Management concentration is the most cutting edge
and innovative in the country.
Earlier this year, noted diversity authority
and thought leader Dr. Christopher Metzler met with
Todd Corley, VP/Diversity & Inclusion - Abercrombie
& Fitch to discuss the idea of establishing a
comprehensive education and practice in a field that
many organizations are still working to understand
and learn how to incorporate it into their business
processes. Together, the two presented the lifelong
work of Dr. Metzler to Georgetown knowing that the
university was the best positioned to promote this
work. Over the years, Dr. Metzler has been ahead of
the curve in an effort to advance the diversity profession
- domestically and internationally. Given Georgetown's
proximity to world leaders, academics, government
and industry, the partnership between Dr. Metzler
and Georgetown is formidable.
According to Dr. Metzler, "Given
Georgetown's mission, its innovation and its proven
reputation for excellence, I am excited to join the
faculty. This is the culmination of my life long work."
Dr. Metzler has joined the School of Continuing Studies
as Associate Dean.
As a founding corporate member of this
credentialing process and developing a universal understanding
of the importance of managing diversity, Abercrombie
& Fitch (and their Office of Diversity) continues
to be innovative in how it embraces, manages and promotes
diversity internally and externally and domestically
and internationally.
"As a Georgetown Alumnus and a
diversity practitioner, I am excited about what this
means for the diversity profession and I look forward
to challenging myself and others on how to make organizations
successfully manage diversity as a critical business
issue." - Todd Corley, VP/Diversity & Inclusion
- Abercrombie & Fitch.
The program has been created with the
need of working adults in mind and as such has flexible
full and part time options. Admissions are on a rolling
basis and students can apply immediately at http://www12.georgetown.edu/scs/hr/.
According to Dr. Metzler, "We look
forward to welcoming a diverse cohort of students
this fall. Our students will be the next generation
of leaders who define the practice of HR and Diversity.
This is why we will evaluate each applicant individually
in the admissions process to ensure that we select,
educate and mentor the whole student."
Students are not required to submit
GRE or GMAT scores. The Georgetown University Master
of Professional Studies Program (MPS) in Human Resources
Management brings together the academic traditions
of Georgetown and the best professional minds in the
human resources and diversity fields to help students
gain an advanced understanding of challenges and opportunities
related to the study and practice of HR and diversity.
