International Association of Black Professional Fire
Fighters (IABPFF) is extremely excited to announce it
will host its 2008 Biennial Convention in downtown Detroit,
Michigan at the Marriott Renaissance Center. This location
is easily accessible to our 5000 members from across
the United States, the Caribbean and Europe. Our members
are fire fighters, emergency medical responders; training
officers fire chiefs, arson investigators emergency
managers, fire officers, and other fire service professionals.
The IABPFF Biennial Convention is the largest minority
fire and emergency service conference in the world.
We attract fire service personnel, decision-makers and
exhibitors from a wide variety of locations. Our convention
will include an entry level workshop on Saturday, August
2 which will:
lFocus on specific points
to increase the effectiveness of firefighter applicants'
preparation efforts.
lHelp lessen anxiety over
the application, interviewing and testing processes.
lHeightened interest and
motivation regarding firefighting as a career option.
Our members from the United Kingdom have prepared a
workshop that will introduce the approach taken in the
UK Fire Service, and specifically in London, to the
assessment, training and development of operational
staff from Fire fighter to Strategic Manager and beyond.
The Keynote Speaker at our Convention Closing Banquet
on Friday August 8th will be internationally respected
social justice advocate and author Randall Robinson.
The cost for the Banquet is $85.00 per person.
