Author Michael Teague, an African American motivator and
minister, reveals proven, undeniable and non-traditional ways
for men to "Rise and Walk" with purpose and find success

Michael Teague's new book, "Rise and Walk! Seven Steps to Purposeful Living"
moves YOU from drama to dramatic success - AND tells you what others have not.

NEW YORK, NY -- From revelation to reality and revival, author Michael Teague takes you on his journey of self-help, based on his own life and the examples of other men, in his new book, "Rise and Walk! Seven Steps to Purposeful Living." Teague, an African American motivator and minister, steps beyond his boundaries as clergy and tells you the real stories of maturing as a Black man in today's society -- including the good choices and bad episodes. “We need to move more men from crisis to empowerment - and strategically support their success,” says Teague. The book gets rid of the rhetoric and offers a non-traditional plan for success in the midst of one's everyday fears, frustrations, failures and dreams of success. While the book is primarily targeted to men, Teague's examples will touch women who are advising and coaching their sons, brothers, fathers, husbands, friends and relatives.

"When I set out to write Rise and Walk!, I started with the aim of helping all people, and especially men, overcome our limitations and self-imposed ills: addictions, insecurities, weaknesses, stunted growth, and bad habits," said Teague. According to research data, some six million men experience depression each year, and for Black men, there are other identifiable cultural disparities --a crisis-- when it comes to economics, education, health, civic engagement, and social justice -- all of which may inhibit their future success and the survival of future generations.

Teague begins the book by getting readers to place themselves in the 'drivers seat' and understand that if you are going to overcome what ails you, you must embrace the sum total of who you are. He emphasizes that you must become masters of 'self advocacy' by putting your foot on the gas pedal to progress in life. "I did not write Rise and Walk because I have it all together," notes Teague. "I am a fellow traveler on the hard road to wholeness, trying to live authentically and transparently. For all those men who desire to Rise and Walk, know that you are not alone. In the book, I reflect on men, young and old, that I've known and counseled during my two decades of ministry and human service work."

Merging the power of spirituality and psychology, Teague gives a real-life foundation and wisdom about how a young man matures into manhood and how older men reclaim their sense of self and focus. Readers will learn from his experience -- straightforward and honest. He talks about his failed marriage and eventual divorce, his failure in school, his calling to preach, graduation from Princeton's Theological seminary and finding lasting love in his second marriage. Throughout the book, he talks about the best ways to pray, his new revelation of success and later his personal and professional revival through counseling, therapy and divine inspiration. "Members of religious communities are not immune to mental illness," says Teague. "We, too, can have a poor sense of self; and an inability to solve life problems effectively or openly engage in mutually loving relationships."

This book is about truth, transformation and change - and especially for those in critical need of spiritual, physical and emotional reformation. "Do you feel like you are in a holding pattern, unable to make progress in your life? Are you paralyzed by negative, unhealthy and life limiting behaviors? Is your belief system preventing you from maximizing your potential?" The book answers these questions and offers a honest, straight-up approach to helping you find your potential and realize your goals, in the midst of life's toughest situations regarding: family dysfunction/function, relationships with women and siblings, role of fathers or being fatherless, failure in marriage, tough workplace issues, and the role of God and spirituality in your life. This book will not preach you away...it will win your heart and mind with its sensible approach to improving your life in the big city, around the suburbs and across rural America. Through a gentle mix of self-discipline and self-advocacy, souls can be changed, spirits can be lifted and success can be found. Men, and all others who benefit from this book will always look back at their new start on their life journey.
