Tony Rose, Publisher and CEO of Amber Communications
Group, Inc. (Amber Books, Busta Books, Colossus Books
and Ambrosia Books) will be the first recipient of the
BlackBoard Bestsellers African American Publisher of
the Year Award. BlackBoard's Founder and President Faye
Childs says that "Mr. Rose's dedication to African
American publishing and his tireless efforts to promote
African American authors is to be commended. He will
set a precedent for future winners." Blackboard
Bestsellers was founded 12 years ago as an information
list and resource guide for books by and about African-Americans.
Two years later BlackBoard began to honor African American
Writers during the Book Expo America (BEA) Convention.
The first BlackBoard Bestsellers Book Publisher of the
Year Award will be presented in Los Angeles on Saturday,
May 31st, 2003 and again at the BEA's Sunday Morning
Book and Author Breakfast on June 1st Amber Books will
also be celebrating its FIFTH YEAR in business.
