---New York City ministers to support MLK Monument in D.C---
On Tuesday, January 15,2008, MLK's birthday, a host of New York City pastors will gather at One Time Warner Center in Manhattan for a press conference to announce their joint backing of the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation- a nationwide funding effort supporting the creation, design, and construction of a $100 million monument on National Mall in Washington, D.C., that will forever immortalize King's contributions to world peace through non--violent, social change. To date, the MLK Memorial Foundation has raised $82 million of the targeted $100 million needed to complete, and preserve the King monument. In the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who once said, "With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope," the press conference co-conveners, Reverends Dr. Calvin O. Butts, III, Dr. Floyd Flake, Dr. James Forbes, and Dr. Johnny Ray Youngblood, joined forces as a Host Committee to publicly announce their support of the "Build the Dream" mission with each making a personal pledge of $10,000 toward the $500,000 goal to be accomplished by NYC ministers and churches.
