---James "J.B." Brown, Community Ambassador for AARP---
AARP, the world's leading organization for people 50+, recently announced the newest addition to its family of Ambassadors with James "J.B." Brown of CBS Sports fame as the organization's new Community Ambassador. In this role, Brown will connect with AARP's 40 million members to educate them on the importance of giving back to their communities and encourage them to make a difference by living life to the fullest. As AARP's Community Ambassador, Brown will spread the call to action for people to get involved in their own communities by providing information and advice on a range of topics tied to AARP's five core focuses: health, finances, connecting, giving and enjoying. "Giving is about more than just a monetary contribution -- it's about helping to create a better quality of life for others through action," said Brown. "During these tough economic times, it's important not to lose sight of giving of one's self and I hope that by sharing my personal experiences, I will be able to motivate others to get more involved and help them discover the joys that giving back can bring to not only the lives of those they help, but also to themselves."

---Dick Gregory fast---
Dick Gregory, 76, world famous activist, author, lecturer and comedian, recently appeared on the radio and television shows of Don Imus and Joe Madison and made an historic announcement in connection with what he called "the inexcusable crisis of humanity in connection with the tragic state of this country's economy as a result of the past eight years of greed, arrogance and fear-mongering," Gregory said. "We have to take the lead and create humanity where none exists.” said Gregory. "Therefore," he announced, "I will not eat another bite of solid food until there is an end to these intolerable economic conditions for the people of this country."  Gregory vowed to continue a daily prayer vigil for the "humanity and dignity of the American people who are suffering from this tragic economic distress." Gregory said, "My fast will consist of four days of just liquids, two days of just water and one day of nothing at all but the air that I breath. From my heart I believe this crisis now demands the commitment of all Americans to put and end to it or face total destruction."

---Black women ignored by mainstream media---
Here is a statement made by Dr. E. Faye Williams, Esq, National Chair of the National Congress of Black Women, Inc. "Day after day, in all forms of media -- print, radio, and television -- we see, hear, and read the perspectives of non-Black women and women of color who are not actively involved in the struggles of Black women -- especially on so-called 'women's issues'. Well, as Sojourner Truth would ask, Black women are also asking, 'Ain't I a Woman?'," "What's with the media? Don't they know Black women and other minority women have ideas, too -- especially when the subject is about women? There are many Black women leaders, and we don't all agree with what others say about issues involving us. Many of us attended the White House ceremony where President Barack Obama announced his White House Council on Women and Girls. Yet, we haven't seen one comment by a Black women's organization because nobody from mainstream media asked us.".
