---Mitt Romney is in second among Republicans, but makes it the tightest general election race---The debates continue and the calendar is quickly moving towards January when the first voting of the 2012 primary will take place. Each month, the story line seems to take a new shift and this month is no exception. Among Republicans, one in five (20%) would vote for Godfather Pizza CEO Herman Cain in the GOP primary while 18% would vote for former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and 11% would vote for Texas Governor Rick Perry. Other candidates are all under 10% including Newt Gingrich (7%), Michele Bachman (4%), Ron Paul (4%), Jon Huntsman (1%), and Rick Santorum (1%). One-third of Republicans (32%), however, are still not at all sure who they would vote for in the Republican primary. These are some of the results of The Harris Poll of 2,463 adults surveyed online between October 10 and 17, 2011 by Harris Interactive. Among Independents, 17% would vote for Herman Cain, 16% for Mitt Romney and 13% for Ron Paul with 5% voting for Rick Perry.

---Stanford Law School Honors Vernon Jordan---The John and Terry Levin Center for Public Service and Public Interest Law at Stanford Law School has awarded the National Public Service Award to Vernon E. Jordan, Jr. for his lifetime of public service. The National Public Service Award is designated for an attorney whose public service work has had broad, national impact. "Vernon Jordan's career reflects Stanford Law's fundamental and underlying values – that public service must be a central part of any lawyer's life," said Larry Kramer, Richard E. Lang Professor of Law and Dean. "He is a role model for our students as someone who has integrated a powerful, lifetime commitment to equality into a remarkably diverse legal career."

---Radio One Detroit Closes Local Marketing Agreement to Operate WGPR FM 107.5---Radio One, Inc.'s Detroit market has entered into a Local Marketing Agreement (LMA) to assume operating responsibility for WGPR FM 107.5. Radio One Detroit will be moving its HOT Hip Hop and R&B station 102.7 to its new home on 107.5 effective Monday, October 24, 2011. Radio One Detroit will also bring a brand new station into the Detroit market on 102.7.  A recent research project showed a substantial demand for inspirational music.  Radio One already operates several very successful Praise stations around the country and has decided it is the right time to launch one in Detroit.  Praise 102.7 will debut Monday, October 31, 2011. Inspirational super star Yolanda Adams will host morning drive from 6am – 10am.  The Praise website will be www.praise1027.com. ---Time Warner Cable Premieres On Demand Original Talk Series Highlighting Successful African Americans---Time Warner Cable announced that it has launched its original talk series "Born to Shine." The series aims to spotlight the impact African Americans continue to make within the entertainment industry, sports, technology and the community. "Born to Shine" will be available exclusively to Time Warner Cable Digital TV customers through its On Demand platform. "Born to Shine" series to feature interviews with songwriter and singer Ne-Yo, director Robert Townsend, singer Estelle, celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson, actress Tatyana Ali, music mogul Steve Stoute and more.
