---Dick Gregory helps Boeing salute
diversity---
Thanks to a collaboration inspired by Boeing Philadelphia's
Michael Benson and UnityFirst.com President and CEO
Janine Fondon, the Boeing Corporation recently welcomed
author and activist Dick Gregory to its Philadelphia
site to speak with employees about the power and potential
of a diverse workforce. "First, you have to understand
who you are as a human being," he said. "The
work you do here is important, but what you do in the
name of diversity is what makes America a better place."
Using humor and personal experiences to deliver his
powerful messages, Gregory stressed the importance of
taking personal responsibility and maintaining one's
spirituality during the fight for equality. He also
credited the civil rights movement of the 1960s and
70s for liberties enjoyed today by all people. Sponsored
by the Boeing Philadelphia Diversity Council, the event
marked the latest tribute to diversity by the Philadelphia
site. Some of the guests to share in this diversity
event included Janine Fondon, president and CEO of UnityFirst.com,
a web site dedicated to promoting diversity e-news,
Naomi Tutu, associate director, Office of International
Relations and Programs at Tennessee State University
and daughter of South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu,
and Pat Coulter, president and CEO of the Philadelphia
Urban League. Following the event, Dick Gregory joined
Janine and Tom Fondon, founders, UnityFirst.com, at
a book signing for their new release, "The Practice

estimated 500,000 attendees of all backgrounds and ethnicities

Voter Registration pavilion, which enabled thousands
of people to register to vote in the 2004 elections

---September is Prostate Health Month-THE
PROSTATE NET: Your Source for Free Prostate Cancer Screenings---In
recognition of Prostate Health Month (September), The
Prostate Net encourages men to get checked for prostate
cancer, the single most diagnosed of all cancers, and
the second leading cause of cancer death in men. Earlier
this year, hospitals and community leaders joined forces
for Going to the Barbershop to Fight Cancer, an award-winning
campaign urging men to get checked for prostate cancer
and other life-threatening illnesses. Barbers, historically
respected as influential leaders in the African American
community, have been dubbed "health motivators"
by hospital partners, and continue to spread the word
in African American neighborhoods nationwide. To learn
about free or low-cost prostate cancer screenings in
your city or to schedule a Prostate Cancer Awareness
Event as part of an upcoming community / church health
fair, visit www.ProstateNet.org or call 1.888-4ProsNet
(1-888-476-7638). African American men are affected
59% more than White males and have a death rate 128%
higher than White men. Latino/Hispanic males have the
third highest rates of prostate cancer incidence and
death. The Prostate Net encourages men to have a PSA
test to start the dialogue between doctor and patient
to determine "the best standard of care."
